Levenhuk New Skyline PRO MAK 127/1500 AZ5 Telescope #86219

The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO MAK 127/1500 AZ5 features the Maksutov-Cassegrain optical design. Astronomers around the world value it for its compact size and sealed construction as well as carrying out observations free from chromatic aberration. This optical system does not require complex adjustments. It delivers high-contrast images whether you observe from a city balcony or from a remote location far away from light pollution. This telescope is a great choice if you want more than just a general view of the Moon and basic planetary disks. It reveals real details like cloud belts, the Great Red Spot, and the colors of planetary atmospheres.

Eyepieces and optical capabilities

The kit includes two SUPER eyepieces with focal lengths of 25mm and 10mm. They provide magnifications of 60x and 150x, giving you flexibility in your observations. You can switch from a wide sky view to detailed study in less than a minute by just changing the eyepiece.

The telescope’s potential is fully unlocked when studying the Moon. The level of detail on Earth’s natural satellite will take your breath away. You will see not only large craters like Tycho, Copernicus, and Plato and dark basalt seas, but also rays, terraces, central peaks, and rilles. Be sure to explore the terminator line (the boundary between day and night). The play of light and shadow makes the surface details look truly three-dimensional.

On Jupiter’s disk, you will be able to see 4–5 cloud belts, the Great Red Spot, and, with a stable atmosphere, the shadows of its moons falling onto the planet’s surface. Saturn reveals its famous rings, with the Cassini Division clearly visible on steady nights. During opposition, Mars looks like a reddish-orange sphere with a white polar cap and dark surface markings.

With countryside observations, this telescope opens up the amazing world of deep space. You can observe the Ring and Dumbbell planetary nebulae, enjoy the sparkle of stars in the Perseus Double Cluster and the great Hercules globular cluster M13, and spot the silhouettes of distant galaxies in Ursa Major. The telescope excels at resolving double stars such as Albireo, which splits into a beautiful pair of orange and blue stars.

AZ5 altazimuth mount and tripod

The AZ5 is a serious step up from entry-level altazimuth mounts. It carries optical tubes weighing up to 5kg with confidence and features worm gears with flexible slow-motion cables on both axes — essential for smooth, precise tracking at 150x magnification. A friction clutch lets you slew the tube by hand for quick aiming, then fine-tune the position with the cables. The altitude range of −50° to +90° plus full 360° azimuth rotation makes the mount equally suited to deep-sky targets near the zenith and terrestrial views below the horizon.

The mount sits on a sturdy aluminum tripod. It provides a solid foundation for your equipment wherever you set it up, whether on concrete, grass, or soft ground. The tripod features a central accessory tray.

Everything you need is already in the box

Besides the optical tube, eyepieces, mount, and tripod, the kit also includes a 90° diagonal mirror and a 6x30 optical finderscope. The diagonal mirror makes observations comfortable and natural for your neck and back during long sessions. The finderscope acts like a mini telescope whose main purpose is to help you locate celestial objects much faster. It lets you aim at a celestial body in just 10–20 seconds.

Key features:

• A classic Maksutov-Cassegrain for studying the Moon’s surface, hunting planets of the Solar System, and observing double stars
• The compact optical tube is ready to travel with you. Its sealed design protects it from dust and moisture.
• The AZ5 altazimuth mount carries up to 5kg, along with worm gears and flexible slow-motion cables on both axes for smooth, precise tracking.
• A friction clutch on both axes allows for fast hand-slewing for quick aiming, followed by fine-tuning with the cables.
• The view through the eyepiece is always sharp, clear, and high contrast thanks to optics that effectively suppress color distortions.
• The kit includes two SUPER eyepieces (10mm and 25mm), giving you two working magnifications right away.
• The telescope comes with all of the necessary accessories. No extra purchases are needed.
