Levenhuk New Skyline BASE 70/900 EQ2 Telescope #86205

The Levenhuk New Skyline BASE 70/900 EQ2 refractor is a classic choice for space observation and an excellent starting point for beginners. Unlike telescopes with smaller apertures, it delivers superior detail and brightness. Its long focal length optical design also produces significantly less chromatic aberration than shorter refractors. The equatorial mount allows you to track celestial objects smoothly, even at high magnifications.

What you can see

The Moon reveals rich detail. You can clearly see lunar seas, craters, mountain ranges, and the rugged terrain casting shadows along the terminator. Jupiter reveals itself as a distinct disk. You will spot its atmospheric bands and its four bright moons. Under excellent conditions, observers might even see the Great Red Spot. Saturn’s rings and its brightest moon, Titan, are clearly visible. More experienced observers may also spot other moons. Venus appears as a bright white crescent. Under perfect atmospheric conditions, you might even catch a glimpse of Mercury.

Deep-sky objects like galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters truly shine when you get away from city lights. However, even under less-than-ideal skies, you can still make out the Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula, the Ring Nebula in Lyra, and the globular clusters in Hercules.

You can also use this telescope for daytime landscape viewing. The included diagonal mirror allows the telescope to easily work as a powerful spotting scope.

Everything you need is in the box

This is a complete observation kit. It comes with a finderscope, two eyepieces, a Barlow lens, a sturdy EQ2 mount, and an adjustable tripod. The finderscope makes it easy to point the telescope precisely at a star or planet. The two eyepieces let you adjust the magnification and field of view. The 10mm eyepiece delivers higher magnification to reveal the fine details of planets and the Moon, while the 25mm eyepiece is perfect for larger deep-sky objects. By combining these eyepieces with the Barlow lens, you double the power of each one. This gives you four different magnification options right out of the box!

The robust and stable EQ2 equatorial mount features a higher payload capacity, significantly reducing vibrations on windy nights. The slow-motion controls on the EQ2 are smoother and more precise, making it much easier to track objects as they move across the night sky.

The aluminum tripod is fully adjustable in height and features a convenient accessory tray. You can keep spare eyepieces, star charts, and other accessories on the tray so that nothing gets lost in the dark.
