The Levenhuk MED 45B binocular microscope is designed for professional brightfield or darkfield use, as well as for phase contrast microscopic studies. Oil immersion can be used for brightfield, while only the "dry" method is applied for darkfield observations. The infinity-corrected optical system allows integrating the microscope with additional accessories (sold separately) to extend its capabilities. The microscope will be a perfect resource for an academic department, a research institute, or a medical laboratory.
Advantages of the phase contrast method
It is worth emphasizing that this optical instrument also allows phase contrast microscopy. This method enhances the contrast and sharpness of images of transparent and semi-transparent samples to a level achievable by the standard method only by staining the samples. This is why phase contrast microscopy is essential for studying samples in vivo in their natural conditions since the staining process would cause cell death. This method can be applied to the analysis of drinking water and parasites, cytological, hematological analyses, and other research fields.
Infinity-corrected planachromatic optics
Levenhuk MED 45 series microscopes are equipped with an infinity-corrected optical system, used in professional and high-level microscopes. This system includes planachromatic objectives and ensures the transmission of clear, high-contrast images with excellent flatness.
One of the most important features of the infinity-corrected optical system is that it allows the installation of additional components in the optical path between the objective lens and the eyepiece. Additional parts include a polarizer for epi-fluorescence and slides. Overall, the modular design and ease of use make Levenhuk MED 45 microscopes optimal tools for use in various fields of microscopy, for work in hematology, histology, microbiology laboratories, and much more.
Rotatable binocular head
The microscope features a classic binocular head inclined at 30°. It allows observations with both eyes simultaneously and prevents neck muscle stiffness during long hours of work. The head can rotate 360°, simplifying group work—samples can be comfortably studied from any position. Included eyepieces have 10x magnification, provide clear vision, and allow diopter adjustment.
Optical capabilities
The revolving nosepiece allows positioning up to five objectives, but only four objective lenses of various magnifications are included in the kit. These planachromatic phase contrast objectives homogenize the field of view, improve color reproduction, and reduce optical distortion. Two objectives with the highest magnification are equipped with spring-loaded mounts that protect them from accidental damage. A 100x objective is designed for oil immersion.
All optical surfaces of the accessories in the kit are protected with an antifungal coating.
Comfortable work with slides
You can adjust focus by turning the coarse and fine focus knobs. The mechanical double-layer stage is equipped with a mechanical translator. The stage can move in two directions. The phase contrast condenser is located below. A 5 W LED with adjustable brightness serves to illuminate samples. Köhler illumination can be set.
The illumination is powered by an AC power supply.

Caution:
For information regarding the correct mains voltage, consult the specifications table. Never attempt to plug a 110 V device into a 220 V outlet and vice versa without using a voltage converter. Note that mains voltage is 220–240 V in most European countries and 110 V in the USA and Canada.
