The Discovery Gator 8–20x25 is a variable magnification zoom binocular. This model has a magnification range from 8x to 20x, making it suitable for multiple situations. The 8x magnification is ideal for watching sports events and observing birds and wildlife. The 20x magnification allows comfortable viewing of more distant objects, such as the opposite bank of a river, a lone building in a field, a mountain trail, etc.

Although this binocular is based on a Porro prism optical design, it is still compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry without taking up too much space in a backpack. The optics of this binocular, made of BK-7 glass, feature a fully multi-coated anti-reflective coating for greater contrast and better brightness. The binocular is equipped with twist-up eyecups, central focusing, and diopter correction. The interpupillary distance can also be adjusted. The eyecups have a twist-up adjustment.

The binocular body is rubber-coated, which protects it from moisture and dust.
