Small Rifle Primer

This is the Starline Small Rifle Primer version of the 6.5 Creedmoor. The 6.5 Creedmoor was designed as a target caliber in 2007 by Hornady, but it has become an extremely popular hunting caliber. Although it is not as long as some other short-action 6.5 calibers, such as the .260 Remington, the Creedmoor uses a 30° shoulder and a very reduced body taper to achieve similar ballistics. The reduced length also gives it greater versatility in terms of bullet seating depth. Almost all major rifle manufacturers offer bolt-action or modern sporting rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor caliber, thanks to its versatility and intrinsic accuracy.

The Starline SR6.5CM case uses a Small Rifle primer. Many shooters prefer the Small primer for its greater consistency and accuracy. While other small primer manufacturers use a primer pocket smaller than the standard, Starline uses our standard 0.080" primer pocket, as we believe it provides better ignition with some of the slower powders and in cold conditions* (and the decapping pins won't break either!). The Small Primer version also holds primer size much better than the Large Primer version at higher pressures.
