The RCBS manual case trimmer is designed to remove external thickness from the case neck. Many of the most common cases available on the market have variations in case neck thickness. This damages the concentricity of the case neck and bullet exit. Centering the case neck results in much more accurate handloaded ammunition. The case neck is held in place by a specific mandrel/pilot (sold separately) during the cutting phase.

The cutting system is designed to zero the blade on the pilot/mandrel and then use micrometric adjustment to measure the correct case neck thickness with variations in increments or decrements of .0005”/0.001mm. It can also be used by left-handed persons.

The case holder (Quick Change Case Holder) offers many advantages in the competition world. Many other tools of this type use a tap wrench to lock the case: while this system is correct for threading holes, it is not equally suitable for maintaining the correct position of the case neck relative to the blade.

The Quick Change Case Holder features a specific design that allows the case to be rotated and simultaneously pushed forward to keep it in contact with the blade. Case replacement happens quickly because the device is free of locking screws.
