Levenhuk Solar Filter for 105mm MAK Telescopes #68243

The Sun is one of the most interesting and exciting things to observe in the sky. But it’s important to remember that monitoring solar activity always requires a protective filter! Special solar aperture filters for telescopes are placed in front of the lens before observations. Such filters reduce the intensity of sunlight to a safe level.

Levenhuk Solar Filter for 105mm MAK Telescopes are made using special Baader Planetarium AstroSolar Visual film, which reduces harmful UV radiation and allows for detailed observations of the solar surface. The filter doesn’t have any internal defects or bubbles; the quality of the final image can compete with plane-parallel glass filters. Levenhuk Solar Filter for 105mm MAK Telescopes will help you observe the Sun for a long period of time. You will see granulation and the structure of sunspots. The observed image of the Sun will be neutral white.

How to correctly choose a telescope solar filter

When choosing a solar filter you must consider more than optical design and aperture of your telescope, as the filter must not only cover the objective lens fully, but also fit the telescope’s tube snugly. It is recommended to also secure the filter on the optical tube with adhesive tape to prevent the filter from accidentally sliding off during observations.

The main criterion in choosing the right solar filter is the telescope’s tube/dew shield diameter in comparison with the filter’s inner diameter (when the filter is supposed to fit over the outside of the tube) or outer diameter (when the filter is supposed to be fixed inside the tube). Before purchasing this filter please measure the required diameter of your telescope’s tube and make sure that it matches the values in the Specifications table.

This solar filter fits the following Levenhuk telescopes:

Levenhuk Skyline PRO 105 MAK Telescope
Levenhuk SkyMatic 105 GT MAK Telescope

The filter may also be used with telescopes of other manufacturers with similar design and tube diameter. We recommend checking the inner and outer diameter of your telescope optical tube before purchasing the filter.

CAUTION! Never look directly at the Sun – even for an instant – through your telescope or finderscope without a professionally made solar filter that completely covers the front of the instrument, or permanent eye damage may result.
