Levenhuk solar filters are made with the special Baader Planetarium German film. Thanks to them, it is possible to safely observe the Sun without worrying about potential permanent eye damage.
The Baader Planetarium AstroSolar visual film allows high-quality viewing during solar observations. Even at 60x magnification, it is possible to see some details, such as the granular appearance of the solar surface. With higher magnification, it is possible to discern the structure of sunspots and the facula.
Through these filters, the observed image of the Sun appears in a neutral white color.
How to choose the correct solar filter for a telescope
When choosing a solar filter, it is necessary to consider other elements besides the optical design and the telescope aperture, as the filter must not only fully cover the objective but also fit perfectly to the telescope tube. It is also recommended to secure the filter on the optical tube with adhesive tape to prevent it from accidentally slipping during observation.
The main criterion for choosing the correct solar filter is the diameter of the telescope tube/anti-condensation band in relation to the internal diameter of the filter (if it must fit on the outside of the tube) or the external diameter (if the filter must be positioned inside the tube). Before purchasing this filter, please measure the appropriate diameter of your telescope tube, ensuring it corresponds to the values in the Technical Specifications table.
| Specifications | |
| Optical density | 5,0 |
| Filter aperture (film diameter), mm | 100 |
| Internal diameter, mm | 134 |
| inches | 5,3 |
| External diameter, mm | 136 |
| inches | 5,4 |
| Usage | Product for general use. Recommended for children over 3 years old. |
This solar filter can be used with the following Levenhuk telescopes:
Levenhuk Ra R115 ED Triplet OTA
Levenhuk Ra R110 ED Doublet OTA
The filter can also be used with telescopes from other manufacturers that feature a similar design and the same tube diameter. It is advised to verify the internal and external diameter of the telescope’s optical tube before purchasing the filter.
WARNING! Never look directly at the Sun, not even for a moment, through the telescope or finder without the use of professionally made solar filters that fully cover the instrument’s aperture, to avoid permanent eye damage.
