The Levenhuk solar filter for 130 mm refractor telescopes is made using the special AstroSolar Visual film from Baader Planetarium. This film is capable of blocking 99.999% of sunlight. It completely eliminates all harmful radiation, thus allowing safe observation of the Sun. The Baader Planetarium film has a uniform surface, without bubbles or other defects, which is why the filter creates sharp and well-defined images. The film has quality comparable to that of a glass filter and offers excellent color rendition. When observed through this filter, the Sun takes on a neutral white coloration.

How to choose the correct solar filter for your telescope

When choosing a solar filter, it is necessary to consider other elements besides the optical design and telescope aperture, because the filter must not only fully cover the objective but also fit perfectly on the telescope tube. It is also recommended to secure the filter to the optical tube with adhesive tape to prevent it from slipping accidentally during observation. The main criterion for choosing the right solar filter is the diameter of the telescope tube/anti-dew band in relation to the internal diameter of the filter (if it must fit on the outside of the tube) or the external diameter (if the filter must be placed inside the tube).
