The Discovery Micro is a basic level biological microscope that allows observation of transparent samples. These can be prepared slides with ready samples, the microcosm living in a drop of water, or slides prepared on the spot. The microscope is small and lightweight, making it portable. As a result, it can be used not only at home but also carried on trips or outdoors.
Optical system
The magnification range varies from 40x to 640x, so it is not possible to observe bacteria or blood cells. However, this microscope allows viewing parts of animal and plant tissues, observing some types of cells, as well as examining parts of insects and tiny organisms living in water. The microscope is equipped with three objective lenses (4x, 10x, and 40x) and a sliding two-position eyepiece with 10x—16x magnification. The 45° inclined head makes prolonged observations more comfortable, and sharpness is manually adjustable using the coarse focus knobs. The microscope is easy to use, even for inexperienced users.
Adjustable LED illumination system
Samples are placed on the stage, where they can be secured with two clips. A LED light is present beneath the stage. Its use is recommended in cases of insufficient natural light. Thanks to battery power (batteries not included), the lighting system can also be used away from a power outlet. The illumination brightness is adjustable. Additionally, the size of the light beam can be adjusted using the disc diaphragm.
An educational book on the microcosm
The microscope is sold with the educational book "Invisible World." This colorful book illustrates the microcosm for young scientists. They can read chapters about the history of microscopy, microorganisms, and a variety of structures that can be seen under the microscope. The book not only presents interesting facts but also includes experiments that can be done at home.
An important distinguishing feature of this microscope: it is sold along with a Discovery Flora and Fauna set that includes 24 prepared slides.
