The ELD-X (Extremely low drag – eXpanding) bullet is technologically advanced, with match-grade precision, designed for all-around hunting, equipped with the highest ballistic coefficient
in its class and capable of controlled expansion at ALL practical hunting distances.

All conventional polymer tips from manufacturers melt during flight. Hornady engineers have discovered that all materials used for the tips of ogives tapered for high ballistic coefficients melt and deform during flight. Although this is not a significant issue in medium ballistic coefficient bullets with traditional hunting ogives, aerodynamic heat reduces the ballistic coefficient and lowers accuracy, especially at long distances (beyond 365 meters). To mitigate this effect, Hornady identified a heat-resistant polymer and developedthe patented Heat Shield tip.This revolutionary tip creates the perfect apex for the bullet, with exceptionally consistent results from bullet to bullet and batch to batch.

At conventional distances (0-365 m), the ELD-X ogive is designed for continuous expansion throughout the wound channel. Upon impact, the thin apical section of the bullet
collapses until it reaches the thicker part of the jacket, where the Interlock ring operates to hold the core and jacket together. The more massive part of the bullet,
then continues its course, further facilitating expansion, resulting in very high lethality.
